This is a national day of outdoor play, designed to connect kids and their families with their local, state and national parks, to create the next generation of park stewards and caretakers. This is a national day of outdoor play, designed to connect kids and their families with their local, state and national parks, to create the next generation of park stewards and caretakers. We invite you to come discover the habitats of Mike Rylko Community Park. Join us for a fun-filled afternoon, as we explore the outdoors; the parks are yours! Register each member of your family for a socially distant nature experience, where you will rotate in small groups between 4 stations, including a guided nature walk, a behind the scenes tour of our restoration areas, a hands-on craft activity, and an interactive presentation on nature and wildlife in our community. A face covering will be required for all participants in attendance. Pre-registration is required for this event. In case of inclement weather and cancellation, the event will be rescheduled for Sunday, May 16. Please keep both dates available, just in case. Please note: This event has been developed according to current phase 4 guidelines of the Restore Illinois Plan. Should we move into another phase of the plan, adjustments or cancellations may be made to the event. For more information please contact Allison Oberst at 847.850.2146.
